Exascale Nears Completion of New 288-Core Fibre Spine Across Telford
Exascale is pleased to announce that construction of its new high-capacity 288-core fibre spine is now nearing completion, representing a significant milestone in the company’s continued investment in digital infrastructure across Telford and Wrekin.
The new fibre route originates in the business-dense Hortonwood area before traversing Trench Lock, Wellington, Ketley, Lawley, Horsehay and Madeley, ultimately terminating at Halesfield. Once completed, the new spine will provide substantial additional capacity and resilience across the Exascale network, supporting future growth and enabling enhanced connectivity services for businesses, public sector organisations and wholesale partners throughout the region.
The project is expected to complete within the coming week and forms part of Exascale’s long-term strategy to expand and strengthen its independently owned telecommunications infrastructure across Shropshire and the wider West Midlands.
“This investment further reinforces our commitment to building high-quality digital infrastructure for the communities and businesses we serve,” said Thomas Bibb, CEO of Exascale. “By increasing both network capacity and resilience, we are ensuring that our platform is ready to support future demand while continuing to deliver the high-performance connectivity our customers expect.”
Importantly, the entire project has been funded directly by Exascale without reliance on public subsidies, government grants or taxpayer funding. The investment reflects the company’s belief in taking a long-term approach to infrastructure development and demonstrates its continued confidence in the region’s economic growth.
As an independent telecommunications operator, Exascale continues to invest heavily in its own network assets, creating a robust and scalable platform capable of supporting everything from business connectivity and public sector networks through to future fibre expansion projects.
